Davydenko ready for Federer-challenge
The Russian, who dumped out of the top 50 for the first time since 2004, did not get the best start. Gasquet grabbed an early break, but did not manage to close it, when he was serving at 5-3. Instead Davydenko broke back and took three more games in a row to win the set 7-5.
Davydenko is building confidence in Rotterdam, after a poor start to the season. He seems to be reaching a level where he can be a serious title challenger. In the second set Davydenko looked very strong. He moved Gasquet around and was able to finish off points in style. He got the break he needed and closed out the match 7-5, 6-3.
Now awaits a huge challenge, when he faces topseed and crowd favourite Roger Federer in Saturday´s semifinals. Federer ousted Jarkko Nieminen in straight sets, even though the Finn managed to put in a good performance.
