De Bakker/Haase out of Rotterdam
They did well yesterday, and they started well today. But Thiemo De Bakker and Robin Haase were not able to go all the way against Alex Bogomolov and Dick Norman in today´s quarterfinal.
Even though the Dutch duo were up a break in the first set, it went to a tiebreak, which the eventually won. But Norman and Bogomolov were able to pull back. In the second they controlled the match, taking the set 6-1.
A match tiebreak was needed to decide the winner. Haase and De Bakker went up a minibreak at 6-5, but lost it immediately, to level the score at 6-6 at the changeover. Then Bogomolov and Norman took three points more in a row to earn four matchpoints. Even though the Dutchmen pulled one back, the Belgian-Russian duo finished off in style, when Bogomolov put in a solid return and Norman finished the match with a solid volley.
