De Voest first to qualify

Rik De Voest of South Africa  became the first of four qualifiers to earn a spot in the main draw of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. De Voest, who yesterday beat Alban Meuffels, was up against Simon Greul of Germany, who recorded a comfortable win against Ruben Bemelmans.

De Voest was trailing Greul almost throughout the entire first set, before he eventually got back and grabbed the first set 7-5. But the German was not down and out yet. He kept on fighting, and the second set went to a tiebreak. Even though Greul was serving at 4-5, he couldn´t hold on, and eventually fell 7-5, 7-6.

De Voest will face either 4th seed Feliciano Lopez, Andreas Seppi, Philipp Petzschner or Marcos Baghdatis in the first round. The other three qualifiers will be the winners of Hajek - Beck, Schoorel - Mathieu and Bachinger - Lojda.
