Gasquet ousts injuried Cipolla
After grabbing a set each it looked like the third set could be a very interesting contest. That did not happen though. Flavio Cipolla, ranked 86 in the world, was troubled heavily by an injury in his left thigh, and had treatment several times throughout the match.
That left him a step behind in every point in the remainder of the 2 hours and 22 minutes the competitors spent on court.
A double fault from Cipolla on a French break point in the third set seemed to close the deal for the Frenchman, who dictated play throughout the rest of the set.
"A tough fight", Gasquet said at the press conference. He saved 10 of 13 break points in the match, and eventually came through. Gasquet will next face either Alex Bogomolov or Sergey Stakhovsky, who won´t play until Wednesday.
