Kubot upsets 6th seed Dolgopolov

Lukasz Kubot delivered another big upset on the opening day of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. He defeated the 6th seed Ukrainian Alexander Dolgopolov in a tight three set match, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Dolgopolov has been in bed with a flu for the last couple of days, but seemed to recover in time for his match. After grabbing the first set, Dolgopolov gradually dissapeared from the match, and Kubot was able to take control. He took advantage of his first match point, and completed a Monday with three upsets in four matches. Paul-Henri Mathieu ousted 4th seed Feliciano Lopez, while wildcard Jesse Huta Galung defeated two time finalist in Rotterdam, Ivan Ljubicic.

Kubot is ready for the 2nd round, where he will face the winner of the match between Jarkko Nieminen and Dutch wildcard, Igor Sijsling, who comes to Rotterdam with a fresh Challenger title in Quimper, France.
