Mathieu thanks Krajicek

Paul-Henri Mathieu was very satisfied after his three set win against 4th seed Feliciano Lopez in the 1st round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.

"I´m very grateful that Richard Krajicek gave me a wildcard for the qualification. I came to Rotterdam at the last moment, and now I´m in the 2nd round. That´s a good comeback".

Mathieu was sidelined in 2011 with a serious knee injury that kept him out of the entire season. Last month he made his comeback to the ATP World Tour. In Rotterdam he started out with victories against Michael Berrer and Thomas Schoorel, and grabbed his third victory by beating the 4th seed Spaniard.

The match took 2 hours and 50 minutes and is likely to be one of the longest in this year´s edition of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. "I´m fully fit after my rehabilitation process. Matches against Lopez are always tricky, but fortunately I managed to defeat him".

Mathieu now faces the winner of the match between Nikolay Davydenko and Robin Haase, which is played on Tuesday night at 19.30 pm.
