Tomas Berdych and Mikhail Youzhny in shape to Ahoy Rotterdam
Tomas Berdych and Mikhail Youzhny are coming to the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament with recently obtained tournament victories. The Czech Berdych was the strongest in Montpellier. The number seven of the world beat in the final battle the Frenchman Gaël Monfils: 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. "I'm sorry that I have defeated the crowd favorite," laughed the 26-year-old Berdych's during the award ceremony, who achieved the seventh tournament win in his career.
Mikhail Youzhny did very well in Zagreb, as he had to salute twice to the Croatian audience. The Russian (29) won both the singles and doubles in Zagreb. Youzhny had no problems in the singles final with Lukas Lacko (6-2, 6-3). "Always nice to play my best match of the week in the final." It was the ninth triumph in his career. Youzhny, winner of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in 2007, triumphed in the doubles together with the Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, who also make its appearance in Ahoy Rotterdam.
